Perfect Stay with a Cozy Atmosphere
The breakfast was excellent-delicious and filling. After a long day of exploring, we looked forward to unwinding at Biddy Mulligan's pub nearby, where the staff were friendly. A rubber mat in the shower made it much safer for us. Bring your own patterned mat for style!

Prime location, a walking distance from Greyfriars Bobby's Grave. Also, on the Grassmarket.

New-fashioned and compact room, a shower, a hair dryer and bath sheets in the room. Nice beds & attentive and amiable employees at all times. Stunning and awesome location, within walking distance of everywhere. Also, right in the centre of the city.

Themed and brand-new room with super fast internet, a storage space, and coffee. Perfect location just off Edinburgh for the old stuff and good for sightseeing, 15 min walk to train station. Besides, very convenient to Greyfriars Bobby's Grave.

The location of the hotel is great, and is very close to the castle and the royal mile.
The room I stayed in was very small and the Shower temperature would not remain constant and kept going very hot.Sink/Toilet area was tiny.

After seeing previous reviews on this hotel was a bit apprehensive, however, staff could not have been more helpful, bed and room was spotless (dated I agree) but nothing to complain about. One thing that could help would be to improve the entrance area to the hotel.

A shabby, noisy dive of a place. The bed was uncomfortable. Banging doors need fixing as the noise reverberates around the building. Standard of cleanliness was poor and strange smells were to be found along the corridors. The whole place needs redecorating and refurbishing. Staff didn't appear focussed on the job of hospitality. At £297 for the room only for three nights this was a rip-off. I haven't experienced the like since a foetid youth hostel in Yugoslav Macedonia in 1984. Get your act together please.

Location is fairly central, short walk to Edinburgh castle, Lawnmarket and Royal Mile for shopping. Mac City tour bus passes by the hotel, so no need to spend extra for taxi or bus, just hop on, hop off to go around the city. Could be noisy at nights due to bars beneath and near the hotel, but was not noisy during our stay. We all slept fairly well. We were not allowed to stay in the double room which i booked for, we were upgraded to a family room for a little extra cost. But I think it was a better option, we were able to move around with my kids. Room size is okay.
Not so sound proof as noise from the hallway could be heard in the bathroom, but tolerable.

The hotel is extremely well located. It is in close proximity to the castle and the main shopping areas of Edinburgh such as Princess Street , George Street , and Rose Street. It also is situated next to a variety of eateries and pubs which offer a wide variety of entertainment , including live music most nights ; the hotel is also positioned in the historical 'old town' area of Edinburgh , a stones throw from Grey Friars Church Yard and the National Museum oof Scotland. Finally the hotel is also easy to find - being located on the corner of the Grassmarker and also within walking distance of Waverley train station.
I do not have any 'faults' to raise with the hotel , and would stay there again.

Cozy room, but the stairs were inconvenient with luggage.

the location's good, right around the corner from Royal Mile. the old structure of the building means that the noise from the restaurants and pubs don't affect the lodgers much.
i've stayed at the same hotel previously and the TV didn't work then. I thought it was a one-off thing but to my dismay, the TV in my room didn't work again this time. The management should look into this matter because they should not get away with stating that TV is available when it clearly cannot be watched (super bad reception).
